My name is Andy and i’m a IT-sec student from Germany. I had posted my old desk a few weeks back but quickly noticed that it was way to small for me and upgraded to this one. I combined some Ikea Expedits with a Tabletop to get a huge desk with enough space for all my stuff. Also went from dark brown to white, mainly because the dark brown picked up scratches unbelievably fast [Updated on 03/17/2011]

    Hey Andy,

Absolutely terrific idea to use expedits as legs!
Is the height okay for sitting comfortably?
    Your floor rocks,too!

I am also an IT-Sec student from germany, btw!
    From Bo**** ;)

    Greetings,
    Linho

Hight works out perfect for me (i’m 1,86). The floor is new and I’m so glad went for the dark wood (Nußbaum dunkel), it really makes the whole place more cozy.

    Grüße aus PA :)

I really love your set up. It gives me idea on how I’m going to plan mine at my new house that I’m going to move next year. I also want it to face window just like yours…but in my case, I have more windows…

Is the IKEA table 5 or 6 feet?

  • comment avatar Andy November 2, 2011

the tabletop itself is a bit over 60 inches (5 ft.), in combination with the two expedit “legs” the whole desk is 90.6 inches (7.5 ft.) wide.

  • comment avatar Matt March 31, 2012

and does the acer screen switch off if you close the macbook air lid?

    thanks

I’m looking to re-create your exact same setup, can you tell me how everything is connected? Thanks!

Love the desk combination with IKEA expedit’s … Great use of space :) Something I could very much use. Nice clean and simple.
